People Before Profit councillor Deirdre Wadding has organised a public meeting in St Joseph's community centre at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 15.

The meeting will focus on homelessness and housing, with guests Fr Peter McVerry, of Peter McVerry Trust, and Peter McDonagh, of Homeless Fightback, a self-organised homeless campaign.

Cllr Wadding said the recent announcement of €25 million for Wexford to alleviate the housing crisis, is a welcome development, but with over 3,300 on the housing list in Wexford alone, this amounts to a drop in the ocean. She said the crisis is undeniably linked to the legacy of 30 years of neglect of social housing needs and successive governments' failure to invest in this sector, despite a 10-year building boom.

Cllr. Wadding said the meeting will be an opportunity to discuss and get involved in the Right2Housing Wexford campaign.
