Poetry at Fusion Cafe in Monck Street, Wexford is holding its February meeting in memory of Wexfordman Maurice Sinnott who died unexpectedly last month.

People are invited along tomorrow (Wednesday), February 8 at 7.30 pm to celebrate the life of Maurice, a brother of the acclaimed Irish guitarist Declan Sinnott and the well-known local writer Frank.

Maurice (68), an English and History graduate from UCD whose mother Marie (99) died shortly before her son's funeral, was a regular at Fusion Cafe's monthly poetry readings, sometimes reading poetry himself.

'Maurice was a lover of poetry all his life,' said Poetry at Fusion organiser Denis Collins.

'We invite readers to present poems to honour his memory and celebrate his life-long passion for poetry,' said Denis.

'Please encourage fellow poetry lovers to come along for his special evening.'

As well as being interested in poetry, Maurice was a talented writer who penned a play called The Bridge of Midnight Trembles which won first prize in a Wexford Arts Centre competition and he was a prolific writer of letters to national newspapers.
