Potato Market fined
THE Potato Market restaurant was fined at Wexford District Court for selling wine without a licence.
In a case brought by the Revenue Commissioners, Shanakeel Ltd. of 1, Donovavan's Wharf, The Crescent and George Leahy, trading as Potato Market were each fined €632.50.
The fines arose from an offence on July 5, 2010 when a Revenue officer and a colleague ordered food and wine in the restaurant.
The officer subseuently spoke to George Leahy who admitted not having a current wine licence.
He told her his taxes had fallen into arrears and he had not been in a position to get a tax clarance certificate, she told the court.
He had no previous convictions.
