Presentation students get their results after three years of learning through iPads
Students in Presentation Secondary School Wexford made school history last week when they became the first group to complete the Junior Cycle using iPads.
The students were in flying form last Wednesday when they collected their Junior Certificate results after three years of getting to grips with the new computerised system. Principal of Presentation Secondary School in Wexford William Ryan said that all of the 142 students who took the exams were very happy with the results.
'The results haven't gone up or down dramatically through using the iPads. They have stayed even. So the iPads seem to be a good influence,' said Mr Ryan.
'The students are very very happy and the teachers are too. In a nutshell, it is the result of three years of their work, their parents work and their teachers work,' he continued.
Mr Ryan said that the school saw a number of exceptional results, including several students with over six As.
Over at Selskar College, over 70 students received results last week, with one student receiving five As at Higher level.
'We are very pleased Junior Certificate results this year. We are noticing an increase in the numbers successfully taking more papers at Higher level and are actively promoting that in the college,' said school Principal Eimear Ryan.
Meanwhile, 120 students received their results in Loreto Wexford. Prior to the exams, Principal Billy O'Shea highlighted the importance that the school place on stress management methods during exam time.
A total of 2,034 students in Wexford received their Junior Certificate results. This year 1,004 females and 1,030 males took the state exams in schools around County Wexford.
