President visiting County Wexford
FRESH from her muchpraised hosting of Queen Elizabeth II and President Obama, Uachtaran na hEireann Mary McAleese will come to County Wexford today ( Wednesday) to visit Kimore Quay, Johnstown Castle, Taghmon, and Bree.
The President will first appear in Kilmore Quay, where she will officially name the RNLI's Tamar class lifeboat ' Killarney' at a Quayside ceremony due to take place at 11.15 a.m.
Kilmore Quay lifeboat station is the first to receive a new €3m lifeboat, which is the most technically advanced vessel in the RNLI fleet.
The Kilarney was funded by the legacy of the late Mrs. Mary Weeks of Surrey in England who met her husband while on a cruise off the west coast of Scotland on a boat named Killarney.
All are welcome to attend the ceremony which will be held at the harbour in Kilmore Quay.
From there, it will be on to Johnstown Castle, to visit the EPA headquarters after that. Later, the President will visit the Taghmon Action Group at 2 p.m. and will officially open the new community building beside Teach Spraoi childcare centre, and from there it will be on to Bree for the official opening of the community centre there.
