AN evening of poetry readings from the book Prison Poems by jailed Iranian Baha'i Mahvesh Sabet will take place at the Fusion Cafe in Monck Street on Wednesday (September 16) at 7.30 p.m. The poems will be interspersed with Persian chanting.

School Principal Mahvash was dismissed from her job following the 1979 Revolution. She subsequently began informally teaching the Baha'i youth who are denied the right to higher education. In 2008, she and six friends were each jailed for 20 years because of their Baha'i beliefs.
