Pulling a boat all the way from Kilmuckridge to Morriscastle might be challenge enough, but it's the tired legs and the uphill climb at various points on the way back that really test the volunteers.

Since 1981, Eddie Sinnott has held an annual fundraiser for Rosslare RNLI, and this year, he persuaded around 25 locals to provide teams for the challenge. A massive crowd greeted them on Morriscastle beach, while Rosslare Lifeboat was off-shore. Cahore Inshore Rescue Service lifeboat ferried some of the Rosslare crew in to shore. Thanks went to both crews.

Refreshments were served when they returned to Kilmuckridge, and supporters packed into Hammels for the benefit night that followed. Some €10,800 was raised last year, and Eddie was delighted that this year's event went further, raising €11,000. A big thank you went to all who attended, donated, helped, pulled the boat, collected, sold tickets, donated prizes and auction items, musician John 'Sport' Murphy, Joe, Bridie and Peter Hammel, and Nicky Hammel in the Crosses.
