The hillclimb, which took place from Cullenstown into Carrig-on-Barrow, is one of the highlights of the motor sporting calendar in Wexford and drew a huge crowd of both participants and spectators alike.
These photos by Mark Ashby show how one driver had a lucky escape as he crashed into the grass verge on the circuit. Despite the dramatic photographs David Busher, PRO of the club, said the driver walked away from the crash without a scratch on him and went on to finish in 45th position overall.
David said safety is paramount at the club and said the rally cars used in this type of event are designed to survive impacts like the one that occurred, unlike ordinary cars.
