Wexford County Council officially launched a Repair Directory aimed at promoting local repair services and making it easier for people to consider repairing things rather than throwing them away.
Council chairman Cllr Paddy Kavanagh said it was fitting that the initiative was being launched in National Reuse month.
The directory was complied by Wexford County Council with the assistance of Ballycullane Tidy Towns, Duncormick Area Action Group, Ferns Tidy Towns and New Ross Tidy Towns.
There are nine repair categories listed including small domestic appliances, furniture repair and upholstery, musical instruments, garden equipment and clothes.
John Carley, Director of Services said extending the life cycle of products, helps to reduce waste which is an objective of the Southern Waste Region Waste Management Plan. The Repair Directory is available to download from the Council's Website and copies are available in local libraries and from the Environment Section of Wexford County Council. If any repair service would like to be included in future editions, repair service providers can fill in their details at www.wexford.ie/repairdirectory.
