Residents living around Wexford Park given garda cones

By Esther Hayden

Residents living around Wexford Park will police the parking up there on match days to a certain extent.

At last week's meeting of the Wexford Joint Policing Committee Cllr Michael Whelan said that the parking situation the day of the Kilkenny Wexford match had been very good.

Cllr Davy Hynes said while this was great 'it is important to ensure that we don't slacken off on this. We can't have people going back to t heir old ways of parking.'

Chief Superintendent John Roche said that he doesn't have the manpower to have gardai up at Wexford Park for all matches and said that will be particularly true when it comes to county championships.

'We have given residents cones and barriers to police their own estates which has worked well previously.'
