Upgrade works are under way on Distillery Road in Wexford.
Speaking at last Monday's meeting of the Wexford Borough District, engineer Craig Innes said that the survey works on both the Castlebridge Road and Distillery Road had been completed and drawing work is now in progress.
He said the foundations were good and 'preparatory footpath replacement works on Distillery Road will commence next week.'
Mr Innes also told the members that 'work on the Halfpenny Bridge to the Deeps is largely complete with crash barriers now being installed in sections. The Scar to Newtown work will begin next week.'
The members also heard from engineer Larry Lett who said the council were in discussions with landowners on the Coolballow Road to rectify two blocked culverts along the road.
The National Roads Authority will also be selecting a number of sites to resurface this year.
The areas up for consideration are: Kyle Cross, Ferrycarrig, Drinagh, Tomcool, Barntown and Rosslare Harbour. Mr. Innes said he didn't know which areas would be chosen but said 'there is a significant length of national roads within the district that has made the short list'.
The road surfacing and improved car parking arrangements in St David's Well and An Plasan are complete as is the public lighting design plan at Strandfield Manor. Works are due to start there shortly.
Mr Innes said that the redevelopment of Dr Furlong's got underway on May 18 while works at Ferrybank and Paul Quay car park is also under way.
