Road surface continuing to slip at Keelogus
Ongoing slippage of the road surface at Keelogues is preventing remedial works from being carried out.
Cllr George Lawlor raised the matter with the engineer and was told that the council has engaged consultants to examine the extent of the slippage. He said that the road had slipped twice in the past two years and said the council is trying to ascertain the level of slippage. He said that once they know this a design can be devised to remedy the situation. However he said that it could take up to €500,000 to sort out the problem.
Cllr Tony Dempsey said that he understood that no works can be carried out until the slippage has stopped. He said that 'one of the problems is that huge lorries are using that road every day but it was designed for horses and carts'.
