Road works to continue
EXTRA money allocated to fix roads damaged during the snows earlier this year will keep Wexford County Council road gangs busy for the foreseeable future.
The extra €2.2million cash injection from Transport minister Leo Varadkar means that there won't be any 'short time working' for road gangs this year.
'A number of gangs will be maintained because of this,' said Director of Services Adrian Doyle.
Fianna Fail Councillor Michael Sheehan noted that this money was not going to create additional jobs in the county.
'I welcome the fact that it will preserve jobs. But there will be no new jobs created,' he said.
