Five local organisations will benefit from this year's Split the Pot initiative in Rosslare which was launched last week.

Cois Barry Community House, Lollitots Community Childcare, Rosslare adults and children's soccer clubs and Rosslare Tidy Towns are the groups that have been chosen to receive funds raised through this year's initiative. A draw will take place each week and entry into it will cost €2.

'It's true community spirit,' said Ray Flynn of Rosslare Tidy Towns. 'Five organisations are coming together to hold a weekly draw. All people have to do is get two euro and pop it in an envelope and put their own name or the name of whoever they like on the front. Whoever is picked in the draw, gets half of what was in the pot, while the other half goes to the local causes.'

For those who wish to enter, envelopes are available in Turner's Garage, McGuires Hardware, Lollitots, Tides, The Bay, Centra, Kelly's Cafe in Meadows and Byrne, Cois Barry House, Kelly's Hotel Swimming Pool, The Pharmacy, the Enterprise Centre and Seashells.
