TRAFFIC chaos has been driving motorists around the bend in Bishopswater as works continue on the footpaths and road surface.

There were delays of over ten minutes for drivers approaching Fr Harry Sinnott Roundabout, below, as a traffic lights system at the juncture led motorists - unfamiliar with the road - to pile onto the roundabout.

Cllr George Lawlor said the roundabout needs to be manned by council staff to free up traffic at what is one of the busiest roads in Wexford.

The traffic lights system was in place in recent weeks as works in Bishopswater enter their final stage.

The works have caused major disruption to residents of Bishopswater and to local businesses alike over the busy summer period and the large number of tourists in the town has meant traffic headaches are likely to continue over the coming weeks.
