Rural speed cameras plea - Moore

Better traffic management plans and speed control measures are needed in our communities to ensure the road death rates remain low in the county.
Cllr Jim Moore brought a motion to this effect, calling for Wexford County Council to apply to the Road Safety Authority to use camera detection technology.
Cllr Moore said 30 more people have died in 2016 when compared to 2015 so far.
'In 2015 there was a 100 per cent increase in road fatalities. It's down this year compared to last year. With advances in technology we should be using camera which can be switched on in different areas. We have a problem on our roads in rural Wexford and we're being requested to put speed ramps into estates,' he said.
The motion was carried.
