A Wexford councillor has called for the immediate re-opening of rural garda stations which were closed down as part of a national reorganisation plan,
'I think it is imperative that rural garda stations be re-opened. I acknowledge that we have had some new recruits but the situation in relation to rural Garda stations should be reviewed,' said Cllr. Anthony Kelly of Sinn Fein.
Chief Superintendent John Roche said one of the difficulties is that many rural Garda station buildings have been sold including Baldwinstown, Ballymitty and Kiltealy.
