Safety upgrade for St Martin's Road

A major health and safety upgrade is to be carried out on the road outside one of the county's busiest sporting complexes.
Councillor Ger Carthy said he had been working with the Chairman of St Martin's GAA Club Mick Morrissey and club members on plans to provide improved safety measures for everyone using the club's facilities, but particularly for children and young people.
'The club has a total of 1,500 members who use the wonderful facilities on a regular basis so this is a very busy complex with hundreds visiting it every day. With so many people arriving at and leaving the complex on a daily basis there is a real danger to pedestrians and road users alike so it was vital that proper traffic calming be constructed to address health and safety issues,' said Cllr Carthy.
He said the safety work to the road was long overdue and he was delighted to have been able to secure this funding. Work is due to start this week.
