Screen woman Claire Redmond has been awarded the ASTI Centenary Scholarship to assist her in undertaking her PhD.

The ASTI annual scholarship of €4,000 is awarded to one ASTI member each year by a Scholarship Selection Committee.

It was believed that Claire's studies best matched the selection criteria, which include relevance of the proposed course of study to the professional lives of teachers and second level education and potential for study to inform the ongoing policy agenda and work of the ASTI.

Claire, who teaches in Maryfield College, Dublin, is in her second year of her PhD studies. Her research focuses on media representation of teachers, their unions and policy makers using media coverage of the Irish Junior Cycle as a case study.
