Scuola del Canto Libero offer up an eclectic mix at St Iberius performance
Wexford's Scuola del Canto Libero, with guests Wexford Chamber Choir, performed at St Iberius Church, Wexford last week.
With a programme that included Renaissance-era music, Classical, Traditional Irish, Gospel and songs from the Musicals there was something to please all.
Piano accompanist was the always excellent, and utterly reliable, Eithne Corrigan.
The evening commenced with the students converging at the rear of the church for a stirring rendition of Gray's 'Pater Noster'.
The youngest performer on the evening was eight-year-old Laura McGuire who sang the gorgeous 'Castles On A Cloud' from 'Les Misérables' (Schonberg).
Arguably the loudest applause of the evening followed Hayley Crosbie's singing of 'Voi ch'e sapete' from 'Le nozze di Figaro' (Mozart).
Sinéad O'Reilly provided an instrumental interlude to the evening performing two airs on harp: 'Mairi Bhan Óg' and 'An t-Athair Báistí'.
Following the individual performances the choir took to the stage for two songs, 'Soli Deo Gloria '(Purfoy) and the Gospel song 'Deep River'. The evening ended with all singers coming together for 'Sabbath Prayer' from 'Fiddler on the Roof'.
