Sean's bit of paradise wins him top award

Tomhaggard farmer Sean Treacy, has the best farm in the country and that's official.

Sean, from Paradise, Tomhaggard, took the award for the Best Overall Farm in Ireland in the FBD Farmyard awards presented at the National Ploughing Compeititon in Ratheniska, County Laois.

Sean, who farms around 150 acres, 100 of his own and 50 rented, said he was delighted at the award.

'I'm over the moon. It's a tough competition and I'm delighted to win it. Its a tribute to my late parents John and Seline who started the farm here.'

Sean said he farms mainly dairy and has 50 dairy cows and a small bit of tillage. 'There were all sorts of aspects to the competition including design of the farm.
