Seven set for close shave
SEVEN Barntown men are itching for St. Patrick's Day to come. For their stubbly facial hair is set to come off in a big beard shave in aid of the oncology ward of Wexford General and the Irish Cancer Society.
'We're billing it as the Magnificent Seven Beard Shave, but as someone has already said we're 'a right crowd of cowboys,' joked one of the fundraiser Brendan Martin this week.
So far they have gathered just under €4,000 for the two causes, and are pretty confident that they will reach their target of 5k before they go under the razors on St. Patrick's Day. Those taking part with Brendan are Walter, Dave and Thomas Kelly, Dennis Duggan, Pat Sweeney and Tony Pierce. The shave takes place in the Stanville Lodge in Barntown at 8 p.m
