Sisters kicking their way to success

There was local success at the WAKO (World Association of Kick Boxing Organisations) championships which took place recently at the City West Conference centre.
The largest of all world kick boxing events, the WAKOs are know for there high standard of fighting.
More than 2,500 junior athletes from 52 nations from as far afield as New Zealand and Guatemala lined out to earn the coveted of WAKO world champion in various weights, among them two young warriors from Barntown, 16-year-old Clara O'Doherty and sister 11-year-old Naoise.
Clara was placed fourth in the world in her weapons section and up-and-coming superstar Naoise took a silver with a second place,.
The girls are now preparing for the World Championships in light and semi contact fighting later this month.
Tracy Morris of Fierce Fitness Gym in Westpoint has offered her support to the girls and is partly funding this next major event.
Clara currently holds World and European titles and Naoise has a European title and national champion titles.
