Smashed window of Castlebridge pub

A YOUNG man who smashed a window in a pub, had his case adjourned at Wexford District Court to allow him to pay compensation.

Daniel Whitmore, Apartment 1, Ballytramon, Castlebridge, pleaded guilty to breaking a window in the Porterhouse pub in Castlebridge on November 6, 2009.

He also admitted being intoxicated in a public place at the Bullring on the same date.

Inspector Pat Mcdonald said the defendant was seen walking along the street in Wexford. He was drunk to such an extent as to be a danger to himself or others.

In relation to the criminal damage incident, he was walking by the Porterhouse bar and smashed a window of the premises.

He had a number of previous convictions, the most recent being in October 2008.

He told the court that the defendant had spent time in a treatment centre in Limerick, addressing his drink and drugs problems.

Judge Gerard Haughton remanded him on bail to June 13, saying that if he paid compensation of €100, he would impose a fine.

If not, he would get a custodial sentence.
