Speed vans placed in accident areas
Speed detection vans are generally placed in locations where accidents occur, members of the Joint Policing Committee were told.
Chief Superintendent John Roche said the placement of vans is continually reviewed and is determined by collision zones.
'On the N11 north of Ferrycarrig, there are speed vans there for the past three months - one just north of Kyle Cross and one just south of Kyle Cross. It's not a money gathering exercise as far as we are concerned. We are concerned with road safety', he said.
