Bernie Mullen of the Kilrane/ Rosslare Tops Community Group thought she had everything planned to a tee for their recent fashion show but little could have prepared her for a surprise guest on the night.

As producer and MC of the show in the Danby Lodge, she was shocked when her son Brian Mullen appeared on the catwalk in a daring get-up that channelled popstar Rihanna. There was no holding back for 31-year-old Brian, who graced the stage in leather trousers and plenty of make-up.

'It was a bit of craic. I had no idea this was planned,' said Bernie, who said that she later learned Brian was using her make-up for the event.

Brian was just one of the many models who proved they can walk the walk at the event which served as a fundraiser for Kilrane Rosslare Tops Community Group. Members of the group, both young and old, donned clothes from Penneys, Industry and Candy boutique.

A total of €750 was raised for the group as a result of the fashion show and raffle on the night.

'It was a great night and the kids in particular really loved the whole idea,' said Bernie. 'We had good fun and god knows a bit of fun is needed from time to time.'

There's no rest for the group as plans for the Christmas fair are already in full swing.
