Tri-the-Hook Sprint Triathlon is on this Saturday, August 26, which takes place on the stunning Hook Peninsula, Wexford.

Registration is held in St Mogues GAA Club, Fethard-on-Sea, from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m.

Tri-the-Hook consists of a 750 meter swim in Baginbun Bay. It is sheltered route and the race is a run-in from the beach with approximately 110 competitors per wave.

After this is a 22.19 km cycle on the country roads. The cycle is a loop route on roads open to the public and traffic. There is a 20 meter climb at 19 km and the final couple of km are over winding roads with inclines and dips.

Finally, the 5.3 km run starts off across the cliff tops overlooking Carnivan Bay and moves on to country roads. The finish line is located at Ashgrove Soccer Pitch, where two mini buses will bring spectators and competitors back to the start once the race is complete. Refreshments are available at Neville's Bar, Fethard-on-Sea.
