Sympathy as the death of John (23) is recalled
The sad death of a young Wexfordman was recalled at an inquest in the Talbot Hotel.
23-year-old John James Sweeney, 2 Thomas Ashe Place, Barntown died at Auburn Terrace on March 27.
Noel Carroll, a resident of Auburn Terrace, told the inquest before Coroner for Wexford Dr. Sean Nixon that he went to the rear of the premises and saw John lying on the ground.
He realised he was dead and he immediately telephoned their boss Michael Tierney, who alerted the ambulance service and the gardai.
Mr. Carroll said he and John worked together.
Pathologist Dr. Maurice Murphy said death was due to cerebral hypoxia as a result of compression of the blood vessels of the neck, secondary to hanging.
He said a toxicology report showed a high level of alcohol in his system.
The Coroner returned a verdict of suicide. He expressed sincere sympathy to the deceased's family, friends and work colleagues. Garda Inspector Pat McDonald joined in the expression of sympathy.
