ONE of the best known Georgian former country house restaurants in County Wexford is on the market.
The Chantry, situated just off the Market Square in Bunclody, was restored in the late 1990s with its magnificent gardens bounding the River Clody and was formerly renowned for its food and service. It also has a self contained apartment with separate commercial unit.
DNG O'Connor and O'Connor is offering the premises for sale in three lots: The Chantry building on circa 0.4 acres, a separate commercial unit with frontage to Market Square and the entire.
Barty O'Connor said he was guiding €300,000 for what he described as a 'good period property'.
'It has been unoccupied for the past seven years and does need a bit of TLC, but it's a lovely property,' he said.
The auctioneer says The Chantry has further development potential with scope for extension or as a private home and is a landmark in the county.
It includes a large dining room, a private function room, reception/lobby, a large kitchen and a larder/preparation kitchen and as it is presently configured, one bedroom and living room/kitchenette.
