Third candidate eliminated in Wexford

Postmistress Caroline Fox has been eliminated after the second count in Wexford

At around 7.42pm the second count results were announced with no candidate reaching the quote of 11,944.

Minister Brendan Howlin remains in front with 10,635 votes.

He was followed by Cllr James Browne with 9,850 while Deputy Mick Wallace received 8,013.

Senator Mick D'Arcy received 7,803 votes followed by Deputy Paul Kehoe on 7,703 votes and Sinn Fein councillor Johnny Mythen getting 7,357 votes.

Fianna Fail's Malcolm Byrne received 6,123 votes while running mate Aoife Byrne received 3,181 votes.

Mayor of Wexford Ger Carthy received 3,189 votes with Leonard Kelly of the Social Democrats picking up 1,677 votes.

Cllr Deirdre Wadding received 1,558 votes and Independent John Dwyer received 1,279.

Julie Hogan of Fine Gael received 1,233 votes while Ann Walsh of the Green Party received 1,064.

With 956 votes Caroline Foxe was eliminated and her votes are now being counted and distributed.
