Thousands of euro are taken from parked jeep
A BALLYCARNEY businessman was left thousands of euro out of pocket after thieves made off with a packet of money from his jeep as it was parked in Weafer Street in Enniscorthy. It is believed that a five figure sum was removed from the vehicle of John Molloy, proprietor of the well known scrap metal yard in Tomgarrow.
He was one of the first customers into the offices of Enniscorthy credit union in Abbey Square to make his regular pay day withdrawal last Friday morning. It is believed that he may have been followed as he made his way from the credit union up Weafer Street and pulled up close to the office supplies shop.
While he left the jeep unattended, the window was broken and the money was taken. Enniscorthy Gardaí have been left with no definite leads in the case. However, they would like to trace a silver coloured Mazda car with a sunroof which was seen in the area at the time of the crime, around 10.20 a.m. on Saturday.
