the Wexford skyline is being rapidly transformed by three of the major capital projects under way in the town.

In Mulgannon, the €25 million garda headquarters is rapidly taking shape and not too far away, on the other side of Distillery Road, the new €10 million CBS secondary and primary schools are shooting up.

Further out towards the ring road, work is being carried out on another ambitious project, the new Loreto School, which will be the first new secondary school built in the town in more than 100 years.

The new 4,000 metre garda headquarters complex, being built at the W.B. Nunn site on the Mulgannon Road, will take two years to complete.

Commissioner O'Sullivan told this newspaper the new headquarters will meet the needs of a modern, professional garda organisation and would become an integral part of the communinity, enabling people to better interact with the gardai, who for too long have been working in over-crowded and sub-standard conditions in the town.

All three projects have created dozens of jobs in the local construction industry and are benefitting local suppliers.
