Three Wexford businesses named on defaulters list

Three County Wexford people made settlements to the Revenue Commissioners.

The latest tax defaulters list that three people in Wexford made settlements ranging from between €79,000 and €13,000.

The largest settlement made within the county was made by carpet retailers, Trebor Carpets of Clonard Avenue, Wexford. The company made a settlement of €79,387 to the Revenue Commissioners which include tax of €45,577, interest of €20,137 and penalties of €13,673. The case arose from a Revenue Audit Case into the underdeclaration of VAT.

Shane Keegan Car Sales Ltd which is now in liquidation of 76, The Faythe, Wexford made a settlement of €71,017. This includes tax of €49,600, interest of €6,537 and penalties of €14,880. The case arose from a Revenue Audit Case into the underdeclaration of VAT.

The smallest settlement made within the county was made by Patrick Thomas Coughlan of Corahbeg, Ballycarney, Ferns who is listed as a retired panel beater. He made a settlement of €13,807.99 which comprised tax of €3,831.03, tax of €7,103.69 and penalties of €2,873.27. The case arose from a Revenue investigation into Off Shore Asset into the underdeclaration of income tax.

The three Wexford defaulters feature in the latest list of tax defaulters for the three month period to June 30. A total of 108 defaulters were named on the list and the settlements in these cases total €18.52m.

Of the 108 published cases, 51 were for amounts exceeding €100,000; of which 8 exceeded €500,000; 3 of which exceeded €1m. Four of the 108 settlements published, yielding €0.6m, relate to Revenue's investigation into Offshore Assets.
