TRAFFIC on North Quay and Bridge Street re-opened to traffic on Monday afternoon as the Garda probe into the cause of the fire that ripped through the Kennedy Plaza building in New Ross continues.

The town centre streets had been closed for 10 days following the blaze that engulfed the Kennedy Plaza, but the structure has now been made safe for passing traffic and pedestrians.

Meanwhile, a fantastic community effort has enabled those affected to get on with their lives, with a huge number of donations coming in since the fire occurred. 32 people lived in 23 of the 24 apartments and they all lost their homes, along with almost all of their belongings.

All those affected are also now living in new homes in New Ross, which they secured after New Ross Town Council facilitated a meeting with landlords and letting agents with vacant properties in the town.
