Two women charged as part of investigations into organised criminal gangs

Gardaí have charged two women in connection with an intelligence led operation that took place on Tuesday in the Garda Divisions of Wexford and Waterford.

The two women, aged 44 and 46 years were charged on Tuesday afternoon and released from Garda custody on bail.

They are due to appear before Letterkenny District Court tomorrow morning, Wednesday morning at 10.30am.

The two women were arrested on Tuesday morning during an operation targeting an organised criminal gang operating nationally in the South Eastern Region of the country.

They were detained at Enniscorthy Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

During co-ordinated searches property believed to be stolen with an estimated value of €75,000 was recovered and seized by Gardaí. 

Over 80 Gardaí took part in a total of 9 co-ordinated searches with the assistance of the Criminal Assets Bureau, Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit, Garda Air Support and Officers from Revenue Custom and Excise.
