Water victory for Bishopswater residents

in what is being hailed as a victory for the people of Bishopswater, Irish Water is to replace dangerous lead pipes feeding water into 126 houses in the estate as part of the €5.5 million project to 'rehabilitate' almost 13 km of pipes in the town.

The work is due to take place concurrently with pipe laying for the provision of natural gas in the town between 2016 and 2018. Until now, Irish Water had insisted that residents whose houses were served by lead water pipes would be responsible for paying for new pipes on their own properties.
