Tagoat couple John and Anne Stewart celebrated their 63rd anniversary by reuniting with their best man and bridesmaid for a special photograph.

The couple who live in Slad were married in the Church of the Assumption in Our Lady's Island in 1953 by Fr. Edward Creane, parish priest. The marriage ceremony took place at 8 am as was the custom then. The wedding breakfast was held in the Tearooms at Carne Pier.

John and Anne were joined on the anniversary by best man Eben Stewart and bridesmaid Nancy O'Neill (nee Doyle) who both arrived to mark the 63rd year of their friends' wedding by re-living the happy day and posing for a photograph.

John is a son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Stewart (nee Murphy). Nicholas won an All-Ireland football medal in 1918. Anne is the only daughter of the late Patrick and Bertha Doyle (nee Marcky, Belgium).

The couple, who were the recipient of many congratulations and good wishes on their anniversary, have four sons John, David, Liam and Thomas and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
