Players from Wexford Albion Boys Soccer Club were delighted with a draw when it resulted in them receiving €5000 recently.

The lucky lads were picked for the prize as part of the Topaz Cash for Clubs competition following a nomination by Linda Dempsey, a mother of one of the players.

James Murphy, a coach for Wexford Albion, said it was a 'brilliant surprise' and a credit to the parents who help to run the club. All at the soccer club are looking forward to putting the money to good use.

'We hope to set up new teams, such as a youth team and possibly a men's team,' said James.

The cheque presentation at Topaz in Clonard was attended by coaches, players and parents, including Linda and her son James.

James, who plays for the Under 11's, is no stranger to success. Earlier this year, he celebrated another big win when his team won the Wexford Albion Mini World Cup tournament.
