TWO MEMBERS of Wexford Chamber have been appointed to the Economic Development Policy Council of Chambers Ireland.

TWO MEMBERS of Wexford Chamber have been appointed to the Economic Development Policy Council of Chambers Ireland.

They are Wexford Chamber's chief executive Madeleine Quirke and board member Karl Fitzpatrick. Mr. Fitzpatrick has also been appointed to the Employment, Workplace and Skills Policy Council.

Policy Councils support the work of Chambers Ireland Public Affairs staff.

The appointments mean that Wexford Chamber will now be in a position to contribute to Government consultations, whites papers and working groups on specific policy outputs.

Karl Fitzpatrick is Managing Director of Chevron Training located in Wexford. His company is a Department Of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation licensed employment agency and a member of the National Recruitment Federation. Karl has been on the board of Wexford Chamber since 2010 and has assisted in both the development and implementation of strategies to retain and grow the membership base.

Martin Doyle, President of Wexford Chamber, said the appointments will really strengthen the voice of Wexford Chamber and indeed of Wexford.

'The Chamber can and does impact nationally as well as locally and I hope that Wexford businesses will see this as added value to their Membership.

'It certainly broadens our contacts with a vast range of subject matter specialists around the Chambers Ireland network.

'Chambers of Commerce are the natural link between Government and business not only at local level but also at a national level. The policy councils facilitate this link. Congratulations to both Madeleine and Karl. I am delighted that we have been successful in having two board members appointed to national policy councils and I would like to thank Madeleine and Karl for their continued support, hard work and commitment to Wexford Chamber,' he said.
