A CONCERT in aid of the Nepal earthquake survivors has been organised by eight Wexford trekkers who were in Kathmandhu when the huge quake struck last month.
The 'Concert for Nepal' is due to take place at the National Opera House in Wexford at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, and will fulfil a commitment by the Wexford party to do all they could to help the people of Nepal in the wake of the disaster.
Among artists taking part are The Celtic Tenors, Eleanor McEvoy and Aileen Donohue, although more performers will be added to the bill over the coming week.
'We would like to appeal to as many people as possible to come to the concert or donate to the appeal,' said Catherine Jordan, from Westgate Design, in Wexford, one of the local people caught up in the earthquake which killed more than 6,000 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless.
All proceeds from the concert or from donations will go directly to Trocaire's teams on the ground in Nepal. Tickets priced at €40/€35/€25 are available at the Opera House. Call (053) 912 2144. Meanwhile anyone who wants to donate can do so at AIB under the name 'Wexford Nepal Appeal', Sort Code:93-33-41, Account:42596015, IBAN:IE34AIBK93334142596015, BIC:AIBKIE2D
