Wexford residents joined together to get skin savvy at an awareness day in McCauleys of Redmond Square recently.
The event, which was run in conjunction with Tan Organic. Breast Cancer Ireland and the Marie Keating Foundation, was organised to promote the Sun Smart and Safe Tanning campaign. The campaign aims to educate people about skin cancer and the dangers of sun exposure.
Guests were joined at the event by blogger Eimear Coghlan, who was diagnosed with Stage 3B Grade 3 invasive breast cancer in 2014 and has since undergone chemotherapy. Her blog, Ahead With Style, was set up to offer positive advice to those going through the illness.
'While undergoing cancer treatment, the strong inside you needs to be mirrored on the outside,' she said. 'Celebrate your head and wear it with pride.'
The Marie Keating Foundation Mobile Unit was also on site on the day to offer advice and skin screenings.
Throughout July, McCauley's and TanOrganic will donate 50c to cancer research in Ireland for each bottle of TanOrganic sold.
