Two Wexford employees received the highest marks in their accountancy exams, beating hundreds of other students nationwide to reach the top spot.

Blain Newsome and Ultan Quirke, who work with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cornmarket, came out on top when they sat their Chartered Accountancy professional examinations recently. Ballygarrett-native Blain came first out of 660 students nationally who took the CAP 1 exam, while Ultan, from Kilrane, beat 1,315 other students to achieve first place in his CAP 2 exams.

Speaking about their achievements, Billy Sweetman, Audit Partner at PwC Wexford, said that it was a great achievement for them.

'They are difficult exams and to achieve first place is a credit to them both. As future Chartered Accountants and with the experience at PwC, I am confident they have great careers ahead of them.'
