Wexford Farmers Market to uproot to a new location

Wexford Farmers Market will put down its roots at its new home of Tesco car park this Friday October 7.
Following years based in the centre of Wexford town, the market will be relocated to the covered carpark in Tesco Wexford. The move from Supervalu carpark behind St Iberius Church will allow for some welcome expansion to the market.
'We felt that we are quite restricted where we are space wise. At times we have not been able to facilitate applicants and sometimes trader numbers would drop very low,' explained Chairperson of the Wexford Farmers Market Pat Roche. 'At a very tight squeeze, we could have six or seven traders at any one time. Now we can nearly double that.'
Twelve traders will set up shop at the Tesco base this Friday, including several new additions such as a lamb and beef seller, a bread stall, a local sweet potato and garlic producer and a new producer selling dairy products including smoothies and yoghurts. All of the familiar faces will also make their return to the market.
The move has been welcomed by many of the market's regulars, according to Pat, who said that they have received a very positive response.
'There is also the potential there for new customers,' he added.
The market will be open on Fridays from 9.30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Fridays.
