A former Wexford-based student has failed in his bid for a seat in the Welsh Assembly elections.
Welsh Labour's Mark Tierney, a former student of Wexford CBS teacher Joe Ryan, came a creditable second with 6,982 votes to the Conservatives Angela Burns, who was elected with 10,355 votes in the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Assembly seat.
Welsh-born Mark came to live in Wexford in the 1990s when his family returned here and went back to Wales after completing his Leaving Certificate. He works in local radio in Swansea. Joe Ryan said he was proud that a former student had taken part in the election.
