Katie Cloke was once renowned for her lock locks but following her recent hair cut, her generous spirit is sure to become her trademark feature.

The nine-year-old donated her ponytail and €1,000 to the Rapunzel Foundation in an effort to help those who have lost their hair during cancer treatment. It marked the ends of several months of fundraising by the Wexford resident, who started up a Go Fund Me page to encourage people to sponsor her endeavour.

After several years of growing her hair, Katie finally went for the chop in Head Candi in the Ferrycarrig Hotel. There was double the celebrations on the day as it coincided with Katie's ninth birthday.
