Wexford Golf Club has been awarded a prestigious spot in Golf Digest's Top 100 courses in Ireland list for 2017.

The is the first time the club has been included on the list, widely recognised among the Irish golfing industry as the standard on which all golf courses in the country are judged.

Golf Digest is the number 1 bestselling golf magazine globally.

Each year Golf Digest's Top 100 panel, including Irish internationals, club professionals, top green keepers and other industry figures meet at a two-day workshop to judge, analyse and share feedback on the best courses on the island.

Each course is scored on a number of different factors including, wow factor, design, variety, and condition. A further 80-strong panel selected from the magazine's readers are also invited to submit their experience and findings.

This is the second award in as many years for the club, having been listed in the top 50 parkland courses of Ireland by Golfing Weekly magazine last year.

Wexford Golf Club enjoys spectacular views over the town and the Wexford coastline. It was redesigned in 1996 by the leading course designer Jeff Howes, and the club continues to invest and improve the course year on year.

Tony O'Neill, Captain of Wexford Golf Club said the award was a great honour for the club.

'The club boasts some of the best greens in the country and the entire course is a credit to our dedicated green keeper Jake Doyle, his staff and the many volunteers that lend a hand to keep the course and clubhouse in beautiful condition.'

Tony said the efforts of everyone at the club over many years had paid dividends with this award and the club looked forward to welcoming golfing enthusiasts from across the country and further afield to Wexford town, who will be keen to play on one of the top ranked courses in the country. Wexford Golf Club is open to applications from new members of all levels of experience and ability, and special introductory offers are available.
