Teacher at Presentation Secondary School Tina Killackey has spent over 20 years giving students the gift of language and to mark her dedication, she was recently presented with a national award.

The German and French teacher was honoured with the award for Best German Teacher of the Year, which was awarded to her at a conference for the German Teacher Association of Ireland. According to a post on their site, Tina's 'energy and enthusiasm are an inspiration'.

Tina was also praised for her love of technology, which she incorporates into her lessons. This love for modern learning prevails outside of the classroom through the German Twitter account which she set up for her students.

A spokeperson for Presentation Secondary School said that Tina has achieved 'success after success' and continues to prove her dedication by organising German trips and events. They also praised her enthusiasm for self-learning.

'She is more than a teacher. She is an eternal learner and that's when teachers become great,' they added.
