FDYS, the Youth Information Centre in Francis Street, Wexford hosted a 'Love the Life You Live' event last Wednesday (September 9) As part of World Suicide Prevention Day.

Youth Information Co-Ordinator Siobhan McMahon said the idea behind the event was to raise awareness around suicide prevention and was part of a national and international campaign.

'Love the Life You Live captured the whole experience, it was uplifting and encouraged young people to get involved,' said Siobhan.

The event began with a workshop on Resilience and Hope followed by two hours of music from an array of local talent and wound up with a twilight candlelight walk from Francis Street to the Bullring culminating in a circle of life.

The campaign highlights that we all experience difficult times in our lives, and that when we do there are some simple little things that can make a big difference to how we feel. These little things can help us to cope with life's many challenges,' said Siobhan.

'This event is a small step in raising the awareness of young people, but we feel it is extremely important and necessary.'
