Wexford man Sam to shine on London stage

A young Wexford man, Sam O'Shea, has been offered a place at one of London's top Performing Arts Colleges- Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in Sidcup.
Sam, who hails from Coolcotts, will study for his BA Honours Degree in Musical Theatre & Dance for three years. He will also be studying for a Diploma in Dance Instruction and Education.
Sam recently completed his Foundation Diploma in Musical Theatre at the Irish College of Music Theatre in Dublin. While living in Dublin, he had the opportunity of performing with Take That in the 3Arena in Dublin and worked on numerous episodes of Fair City. He also saw success at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles last year when he took home a Silver and Bronze medal for singing.
On completion of his course, Sam hopes to fulfil his ambition to become a successful performer in the arts industry. The acclaimed Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts has a 95 per cent success rate with the vast majority of its graduates working on Broadway and the West End and also on international music tours, cruise ships and television.
Notable alumni include Mel C from the Spice Girls and Lara Pulver who currently stars in Sherlock.
A fundraiser concert will be held to raise funds to help contribute towards Sam's high living costs and college fees in London. The event, taking place at Greenacres Art Gallery on August 29, promises to be an enjoyable night of musical entertainment for people of all ages. Sam will be joined on the stage by some of Wexford's top performers including Yvette Walsh, Megan Power and Aisling Jones for an exciting performance, beginning at 8pm.
