Members of the Wexford Masters Open Water Sea Swimming Club got on swimmingly when they organised a North and English Channel swim in aid of the Irish Kidney Association.

The brave swimmers took the plunge back in June and managed to raise €3000 as a result of their efforts. One familiar face who took on the challenge was James O'Connor, founder of Greenacres. Sandra Goldsmith from Rosslare Harbour also took to the water as the cause was one that was particularly close to her heart.

The group presented a cheque to members of the Irish Kidney Association, including Dora Kent, Secretary of the Wexford Branch. According to her, they were delighted to receive the donation.

'It was really great,' she said. 'We didn't even have to organise anything. They just rang us up and told us that they wanted to make the donation.'
